Nike Secures Michael Olise’s First Boot Deal, Revives Hypervenom Line

Michael Olise, the talented Bayern Munich and France winger, is about to sign his first-ever football boot contract. Known for avoiding sponsorship deals throughout his career, Olise has finally agreed to partner with Nike, marking a significant moment for the American sportswear giant.

An Unusual Path in Football Sponsorships

Unlike most elite footballers, Olise spent over six years without a boot deal despite his rising profile. Sources close to him revealed that he simply wasn’t interested in such arrangements, preferring the freedom to choose what he wore without commercial pressure.

“He clearly values performance above anything else in a world where it appears everyone has a price,” said sports marketing expert Misha Sher. “His individuality likely made him reluctant to become just another athlete on a brand's roster.”

Tim Stedman from SportFive added that Olise might prefer to avoid commercial attention and stay focused on his playing career.

Olise’s Signature Boot: The Nike Hypervenom

Throughout his time at Crystal Palace and Bayern Munich, Olise has been closely linked to one specific boot model: the Nike Hypervenom III. Released in 2017 but discontinued shortly after, this boot has been his on-pitch choice. He even customized pairs with unique, hand-painted designs matching his team kits.

Though he occasionally tried other brands like adidas and New Balance during training, the Hypervenom remained his preferred match-day boot.

A Big Win for Nike

With Olise’s stock rising due to standout performances at Bayern and on the international stage for France, Nike managed to secure him ahead of rivals like adidas, who reportedly made a strong offer. This signing comes after losing Kylian Mbappe to the newcomer brand On earlier in the year.

Sources say the deal was sealed partly because Nike plans to revive the Hypervenom line in 2027, positioning Olise as one of its leading faces.

The Return of an Iconic Silhouette

The Hypervenom, once the flagship agility and shooting boot replacing Nike’s Total90 range, will make a comeback following a limited re-release of its original colourway in 2025. Neymar was famously associated with the boot during its initial run.

This reboot will replace the Phantom as Nike’s main boot for quick, skillful players, with stars like Olise and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer set to launch the new line. Olise has already been seen testing prototype versions while training with France ahead of the World Cup.

A Different Kind of Partnership

Nike intends to promote Olise differently from typical football boot deals. They plan to highlight the contrast between his calm, reserved personality off the pitch and his dynamic, electrifying play during matches. The details remain under wraps, but this fresh approach could redefine how footballers are marketed.

After years of going against the current, Olise’s official connection to the Hypervenom marks a new chapter both for him and for Nike’s football boot strategy.
