Nike Unveils NBA Standard Issue Collection for 2026-27 Season
Nike is resetting the look of the NBA.
The company has unveiled the NBA Standard Issue Collection, a leaguewide apparel line that will outfit players in the same pieces for warmups, practices and team travel throughout the 2026-27 season — and, for the first time, fans can buy the full kit.
This isn’t a one-off capsule or a splashy playoff drop. It’s the new everyday uniform of the league’s off-court life.
A unified look, 30 different identities
The Standard Issue Collection covers all 30 NBA teams, with Charlotte Hornets gear carrying Jordan Brand designs. Prices on the first wave run from $54.99 to $114.99 at Fanatics, with some team-and-style combinations set to follow shortly after the initial rollout.
The launch lineup leans into a tight six-piece men’s range:
- Icon Practice short-sleeve T-shirt – $54.99
- Pregame Max 90 short-sleeve T-shirt – $59.99
- Icon Practice Fleece Shorts – $94.99
- Pregame Sleeveless Icon Tank – $94.99
- Pregame Mesh Long Sleeve Performance T-shirt – $104.99
- Icon Practice Fleece Pullover Hoodie – $114.99
Every team’s version carries spray paint-inspired graphics, giving the collection a raw, street-ready edge. Oversized silhouettes, big logos and aggressive artwork push it toward modern streetwear, while quieter, more minimal pieces give fans who prefer subtlety a way to rep their team without shouting.
The idea is simple: one visual language across the league, 30 distinct identities inside it.
Built from the court up
Nike didn’t design this line in a vacuum. The company gathered feedback from more than 400 elite high school players, 100 NBA athletes, all 30 franchises and basketball fans worldwide, then folded that input into the final product.
Performance remains at the core. Lightweight Aero-Fit materials aim to keep players moving freely. Moisture-managing fabrics and Nike Standard Issue Stretch bring Dri-FIT technology into warmer, more flexible pieces, so hoodies and fleece shorts don’t feel like a step down from game gear.
Details matter here. Custom hardware, braided drawcords, woven labels and premium finishing touches push the collection well beyond typical fan merchandise. This is meant to look and feel like what pros live in every day — because it is.
“Basketball is more than a game — it’s a culture and a form of self-expression,” Ross Klein, VP/Creative Director of Nike Basketball, said in a recent release. “This collection celebrates the attitude, creativity and individuality of today’s hoopers, combining bold team identity and modern style so fans can show their connection to the game in their own way.”
The message is clear: if players are wearing it from bus to tunnel, fans can, too.
Release dates and where to find it
The first drop of the Nike NBA Standard Issue Collection landed on Monday, Sept. 15. A second wave is set for Oct. 12 at Nike, Fanatics, the NBA Store, Foot Locker, Dick’s Sporting Goods and other select retailers.
NBA players will start appearing in the gear during the upcoming season, turning pregame tunnels and practice courts into a rolling runway for the line.
Specter Edition: history in the spotlight
Once Standard Issue is established, Nike will pivot to the next act: the NBA Specter Edition uniforms.
Eight of the league’s oldest franchises get the treatment — the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings. These uniforms will pull from each club’s history, home city and fan culture, aiming to bottle decades of identity into a modern kit.
Matching apparel will accompany the Specter Edition uniforms, with the full package due later this fall.
From everyday warmups to heritage-driven alternates, Nike is tightening its grip on how the NBA looks before the opening tip. The question now is simple: how quickly will the fans fall in line with the players’ new standard?
