Nike Caitlin Clark Signature Shoe Launches with Chiefs Coach Andy Reid
Nike’s push behind Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe has shifted into overdrive, and now it’s got a Super Bowl-winning coach running point.
The brand has already lined up six Nike Caitlin 1 colorways ahead of the October 1 launch. That alone would be a statement for a rookie guard from the Indiana Fever. Clark, though, keeps adding twists that feel very much her own.
On Sunday, she laced up the Nike Caitlin 1 “Sea of Red,” a loud, unmistakable love letter to her favorite NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs. The shoe barely had time to circulate on social media before it landed in the hands of the man who has come to define the Chiefs’ dynasty.
Andy Reid Joins the Hype
Earlier today, the Chiefs posted a video of head coach Andy Reid holding the unreleased sneakers, grinning like a kid who’d just opened a Christmas present.
“Man, I got my new ‘Sea of Red’ Caitlin 1s right here, especially from Caitlin Clark, man,” Reid said, turning the shoes over in his hands. “Oh, God, I appreciate you, girl. All the ladies of the WNBA, you guys are unbelievable, man. Keep cranking. Love watching you. Caitlin, I love the color, man. Look at these things. It’s the same color you wear, and here we are. Chiefs, love it, baby.”
The crossover between WNBA star and NFL powerhouse lit up Clark’s mentions. She fired back on Instagram with a simple, all-caps reaction: “SCREAMINGGGG!!!!!!!!!”
The Chiefs’ own stars piled on. Tight end Travis Kelce dropped, “Fire up!!!!” Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, an adidas signature athlete no less, chimed in with three flame emojis: “🔥🔥🔥.” Brand lines blurred; the moment was bigger than logos.
“Sea of Red” in Full Chiefs Mode
The “Sea of Red” colorway leaves no doubt where its inspiration comes from. The upper carries a bold red-and-gold gradient that feels ripped straight from Arrowhead on a Sunday afternoon. Clark’s ‘CC’ logo and triple Nike Swooshes sit in Metallic Silver, cutting through the warm tones with a sharp, reflective edge.
Her jersey number, 22, appears in gold on the laces, a small but deliberate touch. Underfoot, a gold outsole finishes the tribute, tying the entire design back to the team she’s cheered for long before she had her own shoe.
There’s no official release date yet for the Nike Caitlin 1 “Sea of Red,” but it’s expected to drop during the 2026 Holiday season, priced at $140 in adult sizes at Nike and select retailers. For now, it lives in that sweet spot of anticipation: seen, coveted, not yet within reach.
Nike, though, didn’t stop at colorways and cameos.
A Star Treated as “Normal”
The brand also rolled out the first commercial for Clark’s signature line, and it’s as understated as her game is loud.
The entire ad is just Clark at a table, eating cereal, wearing her shoes. No dunk montages. No slow-motion spotlights. Just a star in a quiet morning routine while a narrator rewrites the idea of what “normal” looks like.
“Caitlin Clark is just a normal girl from Iowa. Raised to do normal stuff. Cereal for breakfast. Football on Sundays. Golf on her days off. Eventually, she grew up and got a job.
“At this job, she sells out a variety of arenas, shoots from distances previously considered unnecessary, and wears shoes with her own name on them. The media finds all of this extremely interesting. But to her, this is all totally normal. Nothing special to see here.”
It’s a clever contrast: a generational shooter framed as just another Midwestern kid who happens to bend arenas to her will. The message is clear. The spectacle is for everyone else. For Caitlin Clark, this is just life now—cereal, football, golf, and a signature line that already has NFL royalty lining up to wear “Sea of Red.”
