Top Successful Run Chases in T20I Cricket: Full Record List
The West Indies recently stunned cricket fans by chasing down a huge target of 250 against India at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. They completed the chase comfortably with six wickets in hand and nine balls remaining, adding fresh excitement to the ongoing five-match series.
India had set a formidable total of 249 for 5, their highest against the Caribbean side in T20 Internationals, powered by Sanju Samson's quickfire 82. Most teams might have crumbled under such pressure, but the West Indies showed great resolve.
Captain Shai Hope attacked relentlessly, scoring a blazing century off just 45 balls, including nine sixes. Meanwhile, Sherfane Rutherford supported him superbly with an unbeaten 84 from 37 deliveries, hitting seven fours and seven sixes. Their partnership kept the scoreboard ticking and bowled out India’s hopes.
The conditions in Ranchi didn’t favor the Indian bowlers either. Heavy dew made gripping the ball difficult for spinners. Axar Patel conceded 63 runs in 3.3 overs without taking a wicket, while Kuldeep Yadav gave away 53 runs in his four overs for a single dismissal. Both were targeted frequently over straight boundaries. Romario Shepherd also contributed a quick 34 off 13 balls to seal the victory.
The final score was 252/4 in 18.3 overs. This is now the second-highest successful chase in T20I history among full-member nations, trailing only South Africa’s 259.
