England Retain Sonny Baker for Edgbaston Test Against Pakistan
England have kept faith with Sonny Baker for the third and final Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston, a decision that confirms Brydon Carse will stay out of the side as an off‑field investigation continues.
Carse, 31, was omitted from the second Test at Lord’s after an incident outside a Derby nightclub on August 22 that led to him being briefly handcuffed by police. He remains under investigation and has not been considered as England look to close out the series.
Baker, retained after joining the squad for Lord’s, holds his place as part of an attack that has already done enough to deliver a 2-0 lead. Matthew Fisher is the only player to drop out of the group named for Birmingham.
Final Test at Edgbaston
So the picture is clear. England arrive at Edgbaston with the chance of a clean sweep, Pakistan searching for a response, and Baker still in the frame as the hosts chase a 3-0 scoreline when the series concludes in Birmingham on September 9.
