Barnsley Sign Connor O'Riordan on Loan

Barnsley have moved to strengthen their back line with the season-long loan signing of Blackburn Rovers defender Connor O'Riordan, a deal that carries an option to make the move permanent next summer.

At 22, O'Riordan already knows the grind of League One. He spent the first half of last season with Doncaster, learning the division’s pace and physical edge week after week. That spell toughened him up, sharpened his positioning, and put him firmly on the radar of clubs looking for a young centre-back who can handle himself.

Blackburn recalled him in January, a sign they wanted a closer look. He responded with six appearances in all competitions for the Championship side, edging his way into a squad fighting on a different stage and proving he could cope with the jump in level.
