Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights from Practice with Jannik Sinner Ahead of His Return

Jannik Sinner looks set to make his return to professional tennis soon. Reports indicate he will compete at the China Open in Beijing next week, where he is the reigning champion. The Italian has been sidelined with a knee injury since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final.

Sinner still holds the top spot in the ATP rankings, but his position is now challenged by Alexander Zverev. After winning the US Open, Zverev trails Sinner by fewer than 2000 points and could surpass him before the season concludes.

Practice Session with Flavio Cobolli

While preparing for his comeback in Monte Carlo, Sinner trained alongside fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, who was the runner-up at Roland Garros this year, is currently in London representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup.

Before competing at the ninth edition of this annual team event, Cobolli spoke with Super Tennis TV about practicing with Sinner. He said, "We joked around a lot. It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I have the occasion, I try to get the most out of the hours we play together. He's one of the people who teaches me the most; I am always up for it when it comes to training with him."

The 24-year-old is enjoying the best season of his career so far in 2026.

Laver Cup Details

This marks Cobolli's third consecutive Laver Cup appearance, having debuted in 2024 when Team Europe prevented Team World from achieving a three-peat. Although Cobolli won’t play on the opening day, the schedule features a doubles match with Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik facing Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe is led by captain Yannick Noah and vice-captain Tim Henman, while Team World is guided by Andre Agassi as captain and Pat Rafter as vice-captain.
