Coco Gauff Labels Novak Djokovic ‘An Alien’ Following China Open Semifinal Win Over Daniil Medvedev

Novak Djokovic continues to stun fans with his relentless performances, most recently securing a spot in the final of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing. His semifinal against Daniil Medvedev ended abruptly after Medvedev was defaulted for hitting a spectator with a ball, while Djokovic was ahead 7-5, 5-3.

At 39 years old, Djokovic now prepares to face Alex de Minaur in the final. This run has captured attention beyond tennis circles, including praise from rising star Coco Gauff, who is also competing at the event.

Coco Gauff Calls Djokovic ‘An Alien’

After reaching the round of 16, Gauff reflected on Djokovic’s flawless 33-0 record at this tournament. She told reporters,

“I mean, it’s an alien honestly. I was watching the match. Even from Daniil, there were basically no unforced errors to win these points. They played at the same high level for over two and a half hours across two sets, which is insane.”
“It was an unfortunate ending, but I’m glad it finished in two sets; otherwise, we’d be here much later. Novak is an alien. I don’t know how he does it at this age. So good, I don’t know.”

Djokovic remains undefeated in singles at the China Open, where he has won six titles previously. Only de Minaur stands between him and a seventh crown at this venue.

Mirra Andreeva Inspired by Djokovic’s Drive

Mirra Andreeva, another player at the WTA 1000 event in Beijing, also shared her admiration for Djokovic after advancing to the quarterfinals. She said,

“What he’s doing is unbelievable. He’s won everything possible, yet he still finds motivation to compete, fight, win, and beat many great players.”
“It’s inspiring for many to see a legend like him continue to enjoy playing and fighting. Maybe he just loves tennis and winning. For sure, he’s a huge inspiration personally for me.”

Andreeva will face Ekaterina Alexandrova next, while Gauff meets Elise Mertens. Meanwhile, all eyes remain on Djokovic as he chases further success in Beijing, having already defeated Alexander Zverev, Nuno Borges, and Yunchaokete Bu.
