Wrexham Closing in on Callum O'Hare Transfer

Wrexham are closing in on a bold deadline-day move for Sheffield United midfielder Callum O'Hare in a deal worth around £6.5m, a statement signing for a club still riding the surge of its rapid rise.

The 26-year-old is set to undergo a medical in north Wales ahead of a permanent switch from Bramall Lane, with Wrexham racing the clock to get the transfer completed before the 23:00 BST cut-off.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed on Monday that Wrexham had made their move for the attacking midfielder, who has been a regular feature for the Blades this season and is under contract for another two years. O'Hare has played in every Sheffield United game so far, finding the net in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Cardiff City.

For Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson, this is exactly the kind of addition he has been chasing. He has been open about his desire to add more attacking spark, with the club linked to several forwards and creative players in recent weeks, including Millwall's Femi Azeez. O'Hare, with his energy between the lines and eye for goal, fits that brief.

The pursuit has not gone unnoticed. Wilder, speaking ahead of his side's home Championship fixture against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday (19:45 BST), described Wrexham's late-window activity as a "blanket bombing" of the market.

"This is not a criticism, but Wrexham are in for half the division," he said, underlining just how aggressive the north Wales club have been in trying to strengthen.

Now the focus is on getting this one over the line. If the medical goes to plan and the paperwork is processed in time, Wrexham will land a player who came through Aston Villa's system, took in spells at Carlisle United and Coventry City, and has since proved he can handle the demands of the Championship.

For a club intent on turning momentum into something more permanent, securing O'Hare before the window slams shut would be more than a headline. It would be another clear marker of where Wrexham believe they are heading.
