Paul Dickov on Erling Haaland's Future and Guarantees for Anderson & Fernandez Amid Man City's FFP Charges

Paul Dickov, the former Manchester City player, revealed to GOAL that it is unclear whether Erling Haaland is considering a move away from the club. The Premier League giants face 115 Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges, creating uncertainty around the squad. Meanwhile, new signings Elliot Anderson and Enzo Fernandez have reportedly been given reassurances about their roles.

FFP Case Casts a Shadow Over Manchester City

An independent commission found Manchester City guilty of multiple FFP breaches, with the Premier League accusing the club of "sham arrangements" despite City denying the claims and appealing the decision. This ongoing saga has distracted fans, players, and staff alike.

The potential consequences include points deductions or relegation, which could prompt some star players to consider their futures. Haaland, linked previously with Barcelona and Real Madrid, might be among those who weigh their options carefully before 2027.

Dickov’s Thoughts on Player Departures

“Nobody knows. I was speaking to somebody when I was in at the club, are the players going to leave, and nobody knows. It’s really difficult to comment until you know what the sanctions are, if they are found guilty and the appeal has not worked,” said Dickov.

He added that the club is focused on maintaining its stance and preparing for upcoming matches, particularly an important game against Liverpool. The players’ experience and professionalism will be crucial in handling the pressure.

Impact on Big-Money Signings Like Anderson and Fernandez

Manchester City secured significant additions over the summer, including England international Elliot Anderson and World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez, whose combined transfer fees topped £100 million ($132m). Another promising youngster, Ayyoub Bouaddi, also joined.

“When they signed, they knew this was something that was there. They’ve obviously had guarantees when they signed about the club going forward,” Dickov explained.

He suggested that statements from club officials such as Khaldoon Al Mubarak and Ferran Soriano have reinforced the club's consistent position throughout the investigation and appeal process.

City’s Strong Start Despite Off-Field Issues

Despite the turmoil, Manchester City has started the 2026-27 season impressively, winning all five Premier League matches and topping the table. They have also progressed to the Carabao Cup fourth round and earned a Champions League victory under new manager Enzo Maresca, who took over from Pep Guardiola.

The club hopes that any penalties related to FFP won’t block their path to major trophies this season.
