Manchester United's Patrick Dorgu Withdraws from Denmark Squad Amid Injury Woes

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has been forced to pull out of the Denmark squad because of injury, leaving national coach Brian Riemer facing a mounting selection crisis. The young talent limped off during Denmark's recent 2-0 Nations League win over Wales and will not be available for upcoming matches.

Danish Squad Faces Growing Injury Crisis

Denmark's injury troubles have worsened during this international window, with Dorgu becoming the latest player sidelined. His withdrawal adds to a list of absences including prominent names like Andreas Christensen, Alexander Bah, Albert Gronbaek, and Kasper Dolberg, all ruled out since the squad was first announced.

"We're sending him home now. He's out and won’t be ready for next week. Further tests will determine how long he'll be sidelined," Riemer said to Bold.

Dorgu’s Absence Reduces Denmark’s Tactical Options

Dorgu’s ability to cover the left side of the pitch has been crucial for Denmark’s game plan. Losing him leaves a significant gap in wide areas. Riemer also pointed out that his squad is feeling stretched, not only due to injuries but also because of physical fatigue among the remaining players who are carrying a heavy load.

"I have never seen anything like this before. Before today, seven or eight players who would normally be part of a 23-man squad were either sent home or did not join us at all. Now Dorgu is out as well, and it’s really frustrating," Riemer told TV2.

Potential Replacements Considered for Denmark’s Wings

With the squad’s depth compromised, Riemer plans to call up at least one new player to fill the void on the wings. He is assessing several candidates, including experienced players and some currently playing abroad who have impressed recently. The coach wants someone who can quickly adapt and perform under international pressure.

"It could be Anders Dreyer, it might be Andreas Skov Olsen, who’s started well in Turkey, or possibly one of the younger players," Riemer explained to Bold.

Rasmus Hojlund Reacts to Dorgu’s Injury Setback

Striker Rasmus Hojlund expressed sympathy for Dorgu, emphasizing his value to the team and the disappointment of potentially losing him for a long period. Hojlund acknowledged the difficulty of coping with such a loss.

"I think it’s a shame. He’s a big profile for us and also for my former club. If he’s out for a long time, it’s obviously a bummer," Hojlund told TV2.
