Jose Mourinho Praises Kylian Mbappe’s Bold Penalty as Real Madrid Crush Sevilla

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho expressed his delight after Kylian Mbappe’s daring Panenka penalty helped lead a convincing 4-1 victory against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu. Mourinho applauded his team’s individual skill and tactical control throughout the match.

Mbappe’s Standout Performance

The French forward scored twice, including a cheeky Panenka penalty early in the second half after winning the spot-kick himself. Earlier, he had finished with finesse following a clever backheel from Jude Bellingham. Mourinho admired Mbappe’s confidence and flair on home turf, highlighting the player’s impact on the game.

Mourinho Applauds Team’s Quality and Control

In his post-match comments, Mourinho noted the overall high level displayed by his squad. “We controlled the match from start to finish and scored quality goals,” he said. The team maintained a strong possession rate that reflected their dominance against a competitive Sevilla side. Mourinho described the win as “beautiful” and praised the team’s total territorial control.

Squad Rotation and Tactical Approach

When asked about his lineup choices, Mourinho emphasized the importance of readiness among all players. “I have made some changes but kept logic intact,” he explained. He mentioned that merit is hard to measure and many players deserve playing time. The team’s ability to create chances and utilize wide players was a key factor in their great performance.

Focus Remains on Upcoming Challenges

Despite the excitement around Mbappe’s penalty and the strong result, Mourinho is keeping an eye on future fixtures. Real Madrid will next face RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League before returning to La Liga action against Osasuna.
