Liverpool vs Villarreal: Match Preview, Predictions, and Lineups

Liverpool prepares to face Villarreal on Tuesday, marking their first encounter since the 2021–22 Champions League semifinals. The matchup features an intriguing subplot as Andoni Iraola, managing Liverpool, faces off against his former assistant Iñigo Pérez, now in charge of Villarreal.

Pérez took over Villarreal in June after leading Rayo Vallecano to the Conference League final last season. Despite Villarreal sitting mid-table in La Liga, they recorded a notable 3–1 victory against Napoli in their recent Champions League match.

Liverpool, six-time European champions, have started this Champions League group stage with two wins, including a 2–1 victory over Atlético Madrid at Anfield and a high-scoring 6–3 win against LASK. Their momentum continued with a comeback win against Brentford in the Premier League, although Iraola’s team still shows room for improvement.
