Cleveland Browns Fans Demand Lifetime Ban for Minkah Fitzpatrick After Hit on KC Concepcion
The Cleveland Browns faced a tough loss against the New York Jets in Week 5, dropping their record to 3-2 after a 17-12 defeat at MetLife Stadium. The spotlight turned to an incident involving rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion, who suffered a concussion following a hard hit by Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Concepcion, a promising 22-year-old from Texas A&M and the 24th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, had been off to a strong start this season with 144 yards on 17 receptions. Unfortunately, his game ended early when Fitzpatrick delivered a brutal tackle shortly after a catch from Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The Controversial Hit
The hit came in the opening quarter, immediately drawing a penalty flag for unnecessary roughness against Fitzpatrick. Concepcion was knocked unconscious and lay motionless on the field before managing to stand and exit the game. Medical evaluation confirmed he sustained a concussion and he did not return for the rest of the contest.
This was not Fitzpatrick’s first dangerous play on Concepcion during the game. Earlier, he was flagged for a facemask penalty that caused Concepcion’s helmet to be ripped off entirely.
Fitzpatrick’s History Against the Browns
Browns supporters have long been familiar with Fitzpatrick’s aggressive style. From 2019 to 2024, he played for Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland’s AFC North rivals. During that time, Fitzpatrick made a low tackle on Browns running back Nick Chubb, resulting in a severe left knee injury. That injury effectively ended Chubb’s career, as he never regained his previous explosiveness and retired at 30.
Fans Call for Harsh Punishment
- Fan 1: "The only thing Minkah Fitzpatrick knows how to do is put dirty hits on Browns players and knock them out of the game. He’s a piece of filth and needs removed from the league."
- Fan 2: "I want Minkah Fitzpatrick out of the NFL. What a cheap piece of trash."
- Fan 3: "Minkah Fitzpatrick IS DIRTY AND SHOULD BE EJECTED AND REMOVED FROM THE LEAGUE! He shows no remorse…second foul on a single drive is wild!"
- Fan 4: "He’s been a dirty player his whole career and showed it again."
- Fan 5: "Different jersey, same Minkah Fitzpatrick."
Todd Monken, Browns head coach, hopes Concepcion recovers quickly and can play in Week 6 against divisional rivals, the Baltimore Ravens.
