Chema Andres Relives Stunning Debut Goal in Brighton’s 3-0 Triumph Over Arsenal

Since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from the Bundesliga, midfielder Chema Andres has made an electrifying start in the Premier League. The Spanish youngster found the net for the first time during a commanding 3-0 win against Arsenal, and he admits he can’t stop replaying that moment, especially with his family and friends flooding him with clips.

A Quick Rise at Amex Stadium

The 21-year-old completed a €23 million transfer from VfB Stuttgart on September 1. He marked his debut with a convincing 5-0 victory over Coventry City before scoring a spectacular goal against Arsenal. Nicknamed 'Baby Rodri,' his impactful performances have helped Brighton climb to third place in the league table.

Adjusting to the Premier League’s Pace

Speaking to MARCA, Andres described how quickly he adapted to English football’s intensity. He said, "Well, as you say, very quickly, but with great enthusiasm, very happy, and thank God, so far everything is going well. I’ve been here for three weeks."

He compared the Premier League with the Bundesliga, saying: "They are two very competitive leagues, but at the end of the day, the Premier League is the top league in the world. The tempo is dynamic, fluid, with few stoppages; referees let the game flow, and I believe the physical level is higher. Scoring in the Premier League is genuinely thrilling."

Celebrating Milestones with Family

The excitement around his first goal shows no signs of fading. Chema shared, "I must have watched it several times by now because my friends and family keep sending it to our group chats. And I just say, well, I’ll watch it again. It gives me a real buzz, I’m not going to lie."

On settling into the dressing room, he added, "Now I’m doing well, much better now. Everyone speaks English here. In Germany most people spoke English too, but like it or not, German could hold you back a bit. English is better. At the club, everything is in English. The gaffer is German, but I already understand German people a bit, so it’s all good."

Brighton’s Upward Momentum

Brighton have started the season strongly, collecting ten points from their first five games and sitting comfortably in the Premier League’s top four. After the international break, they face a tough challenge away at Sunderland on October 10. Earning full points at the Stadium of Light will be key if Brighton wants to maintain their surprising rise among the league leaders.
