Barcelona’s search for a left-footed centre-back has taken a sharp swerve, and it’s veering away from two of the most talked‑about names on the market.

Matteo Moretto, one of the better‑connected voices around the Catalan club, has ruled out both Castello Lukeba and Goncalo Inacio as targets, cutting through weeks of speculation with a blunt verdict.

Flick wants a specialist – but not the obvious ones

Yet Barcelona’s recruitment team is clearly looking elsewhere, resisting the temptation to simply chase the most obvious, market-approved name.

Inacio also off the table

The same fate has met Goncalo Inacio.

The Sporting CP centre-back has been linked repeatedly with a move to Barcelona, his name routinely dropped into any conversation about left-footed defenders on the rise. But Moretto’s latest information places him in the same category as Lukeba: admired, discussed, but not the man at the centre of the current operation.
