Arsenal's Injury Woes Deepen as Kai Havertz Faces Hamstring Issue During Germany Duty
Kai Havertz, Arsenal's forward, is awaiting a scan after picking up a suspected hamstring injury in Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands. This happened during Jurgen Klopp's first match managing the German national team, which was also marked by Jamal Musiala withdrawing before kickoff due to injury.
Late Equaliser Spoils Klopp’s Start
The match saw Felix Nmecha put Germany ahead in the first half, giving Klopp hope for a winning debut. However, a stoppage-time goal from Cody Gakpo for the Netherlands denied Germany victory. The evening took a turn for the worse when Havertz had to leave the pitch in the 32nd minute following a strong challenge from Quinten Timber. Arsenal fans are now anxious about Havertz's condition ahead of crucial upcoming matches.
Double Setback for Germany Attack
Havertz suffered what looks like a hamstring injury after Timber’s tackle and needed on-field treatment before being substituted for Younes Eboutalib. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala was forced out before the game even started because of a thigh issue during warm-up.
"Both are currently undergoing an MRI. I hope we get the diagnosis this evening," Klopp said. "But of course, this isn’t great. I hope it’s nothing serious. The lads are probably out for us. But hopefully, they’ll be back in action relatively quickly."
Arteta Faces Growing Squad Concerns
Mikel Arteta faces mounting challenges as Arsenal’s injury list grows. Declan Rice and Marli Salmon have recently withdrawn from England’s senior and Under-18 squads, respectively. Jurrien Timber was also left out of the Netherlands squad as a precaution due to his recent injury troubles. Now, Havertz’s injury adds to the growing worries for Arsenal's boss, who will be hoping for positive news after the scans.
Upcoming Fixtures and Implications
Klopp’s comments suggest that both Havertz and Musiala may miss Germany’s next three games, including two matches against Greece and a vital fixture against Serbia. For Arsenal, the key concern is whether Havertz will recover in time for their Premier League clash against Leeds United on October 10. The club will be watching closely for the MRI results, hoping the hamstring issue does not sideline Havertz for long.
