Worthing Signs Striker Jordan Young to Boost Promotion Efforts
Worthing have moved to sharpen their promotion push by landing striker Jordan Young from Torquay United for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old arrives with a proven record in the National League South, having scored 35 goals in 88 games for Torquay since joining from Yeovil Town in October 2024. Those numbers explain why Worthing were prepared to act decisively.
Manager Adam Hinshelwood made no attempt to play down the significance of the signing, highlighting Young’s ability to change games with a single touch or delivery.
“Jordan has great dead-ball delivery and can score and assists goals from out of nowhere, so he's going to be a really important player for us,” Hinshelwood told the club’s website.
Set-pieces, long-range efforts, moments snatched from broken play – Young has built a reputation as a forward who doesn’t need a second invitation. For a side with Worthing’s attacking ambition, that profile fits neatly.
Torquay, meanwhile, have not simply waved him through the exit. The club confirmed that the agreement “also ensures that United will retain a significant financial interest in any future transfer”, a clear nod to Young’s potential resale value.
Worthing get their new spearhead now. Torquay keep a stake in whatever comes next. The real verdict will be written in goals.
