Vincent Kompany Collapses During FC Bayern Training Session

Vincent Kompany has been taken to hospital after collapsing during an FC Bayern reserve-team training session on Friday, sending a jolt through the club just weeks into his tenure as head coach.

The 38-year-old was observing the second team’s session when he suddenly went down and required immediate medical attention on the pitch. Bayern’s medical staff reacted quickly before Kompany was transported to hospital for further checks.

The club confirmed that Kompany is undergoing “thorough examinations” and will remain under medical care for the time being. No timeline has been placed on his return, and Bayern made it clear that his recovery comes before any sporting considerations.

Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, underlined that stance in a clear message of support.

“Vincent Kompany’s health is our top priority. We at FC Bayern will do everything we can to ensure he makes a speedy recovery. Vinnie is receiving all the necessary medical care and support, and all the time he needs. His coaching team, in whom we have complete confidence, will take over his duties. All of us at FC Bayern wish Vinnie a speedy recovery.”

With Kompany sidelined, his coaching staff will run training sessions and handle matchday responsibilities until further notice. The structure remains in place; the figure at the centre of it must now focus on something far more important than tactics or team selection.

For Bayern, the immediate concern is not the next result, but seeing their head coach walk back out onto the training pitch in full health.
