San Diego FC Signs Cedric: A Proven Scorer to Enhance Attack

San Diego FC have moved decisively to sharpen their cutting edge, landing one of African football’s most reliable finishers in Cedric.

The club confirmed the deal with sporting director Tyler Heaps hailing the veteran forward’s arrival, stressing that this is not a vanity signing but a statement of intent.

“Cedric brings an incredible level of experience and proven quality to San Diego FC,” Heaps said in the official announcement, framing the move as a cornerstone for the club’s attacking identity.

Heaps did not need to oversell the numbers. They speak loudly enough. From his breakthrough at Sochaux to stints with Villarreal, Marseille, Olympiacos and Galatasaray, the Congolese striker has piled up 191 goals and 49 assists in 492 professional appearances. That is the profile of a forward who does not just appear at the top level; he stays there.

“He has built an outstanding career competing at the highest levels in Europe and internationally, and his ability to consistently find the back of the net has been a defining part of his game,” Heaps said. “He understands what it takes to perform on the biggest stages and brings a winning mentality that will be extremely valuable to our group.”

Those “biggest stages” are not just club nights under floodlights. For DR Congo, Cedric has been a constant attacking reference, with 21 goals in 72 caps and four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments on his résumé. That blend of durability and end-product is exactly what San Diego are buying.

The club believe his presence will raise standards across an attack that already carries serious threat. Anders Dreyer brings creativity and sharp movement, Marcus Ingvartsen offers intelligent link play and finishing, and Elias Achouri — another forward with a 2026 World Cup on his horizon — adds energy and unpredictability.

Now they have a proven scorer to knit it all together.

“We're thrilled to welcome Cedric and his family to San Diego and look forward to seeing him make his mark with our club,” Heaps added, underlining the expectation that this is a player signed to lead, not simply to decorate the squad.

San Diego’s frontline had talent. With Cedric, it has a focal point and a benchmark.
