Richarlison’s Tottenham future is hanging by a thread, and the clock in Turkey is ticking louder by the hour.

Trabzonspor have made their move, lodging an offer in the region of €20 million (£17m) late in the window. Tottenham’s response was blunt: no. Spurs want closer to £35m, and that firm stance has stalled negotiations and drained optimism in the Brazilian’s camp that a deal can be thrashed out before the Turkish transfer window shuts at 23:59 on September 4.

What started as a possible escape route is in danger of becoming another dead end.

Salah, Fabinho and a push towards Turkey

The charm offensive has not just come from the club. According to ESPN Brazil, Mohamed Salah and Fabinho – Richarlison’s former Brazil team-mate at the 2022 World Cup – have personally contacted the forward to encourage a move to Turkey.

Their message is clear: take the fresh start.

Richarlison wants exactly that. He has already gone public with his determination to control his own future, making it known that he will decide where he goes next. Behind the scenes, though, that defiance has collided with a Tottenham hierarchy unwilling to budge on price.

The result is tension. Sharp, escalating tension.

The forward is said to be increasingly disillusioned with the club’s stance, frustrated that what he views as a reasonable exit route is being blocked by the boardroom’s hard line. Every day without progress only deepens the sense of a relationship running out of road.
