Jordan Ayew Set for Sheffield United Debut Against Wolverhampton

Jordan Ayew is in line for a swift Sheffield United debut, with Chris Wilder confirming the new signing will be involved against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

The Ghana forward, brought in as a free agent on Tuesday, went straight into the matchday squad that evening against Blackburn Rovers and is now being fast-tracked towards a first appearance in red and white.

"One of the attractions of signing Jordan, not just the level of his experience, his availability record is just incredible," the Blades boss said. "We are delighted physically where he's at and he will definitely be involved."

For a squad battered by injuries and short on reliable bodies, that durability matters almost as much as his pedigree. Ayew offers top-level know-how, versatility across the front line and, crucially, a history of staying fit when others break down.

Injury Concerns

Sheffield United’s problems were underlined again in the win over Blackburn. Hamza Choudhury, only recently added to the ranks himself, lasted 58 minutes before being withdrawn. Wilder put the change down to fatigue rather than fresh damage, but the very fact he had to lean on Choudhury so heavily told its own story.

The manager admitted several players are being pushed harder than he would like.

"There's a few in an ideal world would be getting rested and maybe not starting, but that's the situation at the moment," he said.

So Choudhury, the Bangladesh international, is expected to be back in the thick of it at the weekend, asked to go again in midfield despite the strain. Ayew, meanwhile, steps into a dressing room that badly needs his resilience as much as his goals.

Wolves arrive on Sunday to face a side patched together but not backing down, with a seasoned Premier League forward ready to start a new chapter in front of a fanbase that has seen enough of the treatment room and now wants fresh energy on the pitch.
