Manchester United’s co-owner, a long-time admirer of the England captain, has been keeping a close eye on Kane’s situation at Bayern Munich, with the striker’s current deal running out at the end of the season. United have been willing to explore a move, aware that an expiring contract can turn even the most settled superstar into an opportunity.

Bild journalist Christian Falk, speaking on his CFBayernInsider platform, revealed that the Bundesliga champions expect clarity soon. Kane was named “football star of the year” at the Sport Bild Awards, appearing live via Zoom while his father, Pat, represented him in person at the Fischauktionshalle in Hamburg.

Behind the scenes, the message was calm and assured.

Falk detailed a conversation with Bayern president Herbert Hainer about the negotiations, describing an atmosphere of composure rather than anxiety. Inside the club, the word is simple: relax. Those close to the talks believe a new deal is only a matter of time, with a few remaining contract details still to be ironed out.

The expectation is that an announcement on Kane’s future will arrive next month, and, crucially, “absolutely this year, not next year.”

United’s long pursuit meets a hard stop

For Ratcliffe and Manchester United, that timeline matters. TEAMtalk’s transfer insider Graeme Bailey reported back on August 10 that United were among the clubs keen on testing Bayern’s resolve, aware that Kane has long been admired at Old Trafford.

United’s new hierarchy have not hidden their appreciation. Ratcliffe views Kane as one of the finest players on the planet, a world-class No. 9 who could transform their attack and instantly raise the club’s ceiling. United were ready to consider a deal if the door so much as creaked open.

But Bailey also made one key point at the time: Kane wanted to stay at Bayern.

That stance now looks set to be formalised in ink. Falk says he is “really sure” Kane will sign an extension that takes him beyond 2026. Once that happens, the market closes around him. No release saga, no late twist. Just a superstar committing his peak years to Bavaria.

And with that, one of United’s longest-running what-ifs fades further into the distance.
