Franco Mastantuono's Stunning Hat-Trick on Fiorentina Debut

On a damp night in Venice, a teenager on loan from Real Madrid turned a routine early-season fixture into his personal announcement to Serie A.

Franco Mastantuono, making his Fiorentina debut, scored three times in a devastating display as Vincenzo Italiano’s side surged to a 4-2 lead over Venezia on matchday four. The numbers are eye-catching enough. The manner of it was something else.

A comeback born in 96 seconds

Venezia had struck first, unsettling Fiorentina and the rhythm they tried to impose. The home side’s opening goal put the visitors on the back foot and briefly quietened the away support. Mastantuono was already having a tidy game, linking play, drifting into pockets, showing for the ball. Then came the 29th minute.

The pressure finally told on Venezia’s right flank. Twice in quick succession, Fiorentina worked the ball to Mastantuono in almost identical positions on the right side of their attack, just outside the box. Twice he shaped his body, opened up that left foot and went for goal.

Across 1 minute and 36 seconds, the game flipped.

The first strike whipped past the Venezia goalkeeper, low and true, drawing gasps more than cheers. Before Venezia could reset, Fiorentina pounced again. Same channel, same player, same foot, same outcome: another left-footed drive from distance, another clean finish, another stunned reaction.

From 1-0 down to 2-1 up in under two minutes, with the debutant at the heart of the turnaround. “Mastan” had arrived.

A ruthless finale

Fiorentina tightened their grip after the break and stretched the lead to 1-4 as Venezia chased shadows. Yet Mastantuono still had one more decisive act to deliver.

In the 84th minute, he produced the most intricate goal of his treble. This time there was no long-range thunderbolt, just cold composure in the most crowded part of the pitch. A sharp individual move inside the six-yard box left the Venezia goalkeeper exposed, and Mastantuono slipped the ball past him to complete his hat-trick.

Three goals, each different in execution but all stamped with the same conviction.

By the 88th minute his night was done, substituted to protect tired legs and, perhaps, to let the moment breathe. Fiorentina walked off with a commanding lead and three points all but secured; Mastantuono walked off having turned a Serie A debut into a statement performance.

For a young forward sent out from Real Madrid to grow, Venice may be remembered as the city where his Italian story truly began.
