Erling Haaland's Milestone of Scoring Against Every Premier League Opponent

Erling Haaland has made a habit of turning milestones into routine. On another brisk Premier League afternoon, he quietly ticked off another one.

With a second-half strike in Manchester City’s wild 5-3 win over Sunderland, the Norwegian became only the second player in Premier League history to score against every single league opponent he has faced. Every one of them. Twenty-five clubs, 25 victims.

The numbers are stark. Since arriving in England, Haaland has treated the division like a personal checklist. Sunderland were simply the latest name crossed out. Hull City may be next; if he finds the net against them this season, the list stretches to 26.

Only Harry Kane shares this particular quirk of perfection. The England captain found a way past all 32 Premier League clubs he faced, a complete set built over years of relentless finishing. Haaland is tracking the same path, just at a frightening speed.

Yet here’s the twist. For all their clinical consistency, neither Haaland nor Kane sits among the top 10 players for the sheer variety of opponents punished in the competition.

That honour belongs to Frank Lampard. Now in the dugout at Coventry, he once spent nearly two decades tormenting defenders from midfield. Between 1997 and 2015, Lampard scored 178 Premier League goals against 39 different opponents, the widest spread of any player in the league’s history.

Behind him, the roll call reads like a hall-of-fame shortlist. Andrew Cole, the former Manchester United striker, stands second with goals against 38 different teams. Alan Shearer and Jermain Defoe, two of England’s most ruthless finishers, each struck against 37 clubs.

Wayne Rooney and Teddy Sheringham follow, with Rooney scoring against 36 different sides and Sheringham against 35. It is a list built over long careers, multiple eras, and countless reshuffles of the Premier League pack.

The names that complete the top bracket underline the standard Haaland is chasing. Thierry Henry, Michael Owen, Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard and Ryan Giggs all found the net against 34 different teams. Five players, five distinct styles, one shared trait: longevity at the top.

Haaland’s record is different. Less about span, more about certainty. If he faces you, he scores. Every opponent so far has discovered that the hard way.

The question now is simple: how long before he starts climbing that other list as well?
