Eli Junior Kroupi: Ballon d'Or Young Talent Nominee

Eli Junior Kroupi’s breakout season has carried him all the way to the Ballon d’Or stage.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 ceremony, recognition of a debut campaign that lit up the Premier League and announced him as one of Europe’s sharpest emerging finishers.

At 20, Kroupi stands alongside some heavyweight company. He is one of three Premier League players in a 10-man shortlist, joined by Manchester City’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi, underlining just how quickly he has forced his way into the elite conversation.

He earned it the hard way.

Handed his Bournemouth debut in August 2025, Kroupi did not ease himself into English football; he attacked it. Across all competitions last season he racked up 35 appearances and scored 13 goals, numbers that would be impressive for a seasoned striker, let alone a teenager feeling his way through a new league.

The goals came with an extra layer of significance. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, no teenager had scored more in their debut Premier League season. In a division stacked with expensive prospects and established stars, it was the young forward in red and black who finished on top of that particular chart.

Then, just as momentum seemed set to carry him into the new season, everything stalled.

A foot injury in pre-season, followed by surgery, has kept him out of Bournemouth’s current campaign so far. The club expects him back in October or November, a timeline that turns his rehabilitation into a race against the calendar as the Ballon d’Or ceremony looms.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year award will be one of the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October.

Whether Kroupi arrives there still in recovery or already back on the pitch, he goes as a forward who turned a first Premier League season into a statement — and now waits to see how far that statement will carry him.
