Brad Young's Hat-Trick Leads The New Saints Over Ammanford
Brad Young hit a ruthless hat-trick as The New Saints tore through struggling Ammanford to tighten their grip on top spot in the Cymru Premier.
The league leaders, already setting the pace, showed no mercy. Young led the charge with three clinical finishes, while Rhys Hughes weighed in with a brace. Dynel Simeu, Isaac Jeffries, Jack Bodenham and Jordan Williams all joined the scoring parade as TNS turned the contest into a statement.
Unbeaten and unrelenting, TNS now sit nine points clear at the summit. Ammanford, on the other hand, slid to 14th, their afternoon summed up by a scoreline that underlined the gulf between title contenders and relegation battlers.
Bradley and Charsley fire Caernarfon
In north Wales, Caernarfon took care of business with a controlled home win that kept them firmly in the top four.
Sion Bradley struck first to settle any early nerves, and Harry Charsley doubled the advantage before the interval as the hosts established a 2-0 half-time lead. The pattern barely shifted after the restart. Charsley added his second of the game, stretching the margin and effectively killing off the contest.
Briton Ferry did at least find a late response through Luke Bowen, but it arrived long after the damage had been done. The result left Caernarfon steady in fourth, with Briton Ferry unmoved in 11th – competitive, but still looking up at the pack above them.
Peers delivers as Airbus edge Cambrian
Airbus climbed above Cardiff Met into seventh after a gritty, momentum-swinging win in south Wales.
Cambrian came out flying. Goals from Jarrad Wright and Joshua Beecher put them 2-0 up, and at that stage Airbus looked in serious trouble. Then the game flipped. As half-time approached, George Peers struck to drag Airbus back into it and shift the mood completely.
The visitors came out after the break with purpose. Kaiden Cooke levelled soon after the restart, and the pressure told again when Peers grabbed his second to turn the match on its head. Cambrian, who had seemed in complete control early on, were left stuck in ninth, their bright start wiped out by Airbus’ resilience.
Snaith’s mixed afternoon as Colwyn Bay’s home run ends
At Colwyn Bay, Cardiff Met forward Sam Snaith experienced the full emotional range of a footballer’s afternoon – and took Colwyn Bay’s perfect home record with him.
Snaith first put the Students in front before the break, giving the visitors a platform and silencing the home crowd. After the interval, though, he found the wrong net, his own goal dragging Colwyn Bay level and reigniting the contest.
The hosts seized the moment. Sam Hart scored directly from a corner to give Colwyn Bay the lead for the first time, a whipped delivery that sailed all the way in and turned the game on its axis again.
But the drama wasn’t done. With 17 minutes to play, Jasper Payne struck an equaliser for Cardiff Met, ensuring the points were shared and Colwyn Bay’s 100% home record was gone. The draw nudged Cardiff Met down to eighth, while Colwyn Bay held their position in fifth – still in the mix, but now reminded that their home fortress can be breached.
